Expert Indian Business Immigration Services

Indian Business Visas Made Simple

We help international founders, investors, executives and skilled professionals work and do business in India, and help companies bring their people to India. From business visas for founders and investors to employment visas, intra-company transfers and OCI guidance, we support you from setting up your Indian company through to your visa and registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), working with our India partners.

01

Business Visa for Founders and Investors

For foreign entrepreneurs and investors visiting India to set up a company, explore investment, attend board meetings or oversee projects. Business visas can be issued for multiple entries over several years, but they do not allow salaried work in India. If you will be employed by and paid from your Indian company, you will need an employment visa.

02

Employment Visa Through Your Own Indian Company

Once your Indian company is incorporated, it can sponsor you for an employment visa for a skilled or senior role, generally with a salary above US$25,000 a year. We set up the company, prepare the offer letter and sponsorship documents, and manage the visa application, FRRO registration and PAN.

03

Intra-Company Transfers and Project Visas

For international groups transferring managers and specialists to an Indian subsidiary, through an employment visa (which now covers intra-company transfers), and for staff working on qualifying power and steel projects through project visas. Short business visits can use a business visa or e-Business visa.

04

Employer Immigration Compliance

India has no sponsor licence, but under the Immigration and Foreigners Act 2025 employers must ensure foreign employees register with the FRRO, keep records available for inspection, and get prior approval before foreign nationals work in sensitive sectors. We also cover payroll, provident fund for international workers and tax registration.

05

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card

For people of Indian origin and spouses of Indian citizens or OCI holders. OCI is a lifelong visa that allows you to live, work and run a business in India without an employment visa or FRRO registration, with some restrictions on research, journalism and certain professions. We help you apply and plan your move.

Guiding founders, executives and businesses through Indian immigration

We combine immigration support with business advice, so one team coordinates your visa, your Indian company and its ongoing compliance. Employment visas depend on a properly incorporated, sponsoring Indian company, so getting both right together saves time and reduces the risk of refusal.

Disclaimer: This page is general guidance, not legal or immigration advice. Indian visa rules change often, and outcomes depend on individual circumstances and decisions by Indian missions and authorities.

Frequently asked questions

India does not have a dedicated founder visa like the UK’s Innovator Founder route. Founders and investors usually use a business visa to visit and set up their company, and then, if they will work in India and be paid by their Indian company, apply for an employment visa sponsored by that company.

Yes. Once your company is incorporated in India, it can issue you an offer letter and sponsor your employment visa, provided the role is skilled or senior and the salary generally exceeds US$25,000 a year. A foreign company with no Indian entity cannot sponsor an employment visa.

Through an employment visa sponsored by the Indian subsidiary or branch; intra-company transfers now fall under the general employment visa category. Staff on short visits for meetings, sales or project oversight can use a business visa, but they cannot be paid for work in India on it.

Employment visa holders and other long-term visitors generally must register with the FRRO through the e-FRRO portal within 14 days of arrival. Employers must make sure their foreign staff register and keep records available for inspection. OCI cardholders do not need to register.

Generally a gross salary above US$25,000 a year. Limited exemptions apply, for example for ethnic cuisine chefs, foreign language teachers (other than English) and translators. The role must be skilled; routine or clerical jobs do not qualify.

Yes. Your spouse and children can usually come on dependant (X or entry) visas linked to your visa. Dependant visas do not allow work, so a spouse who wants to work needs their own employment visa and sponsor. OCI holders’ spouses may be eligible for OCI themselves after two years of marriage.

Company incorporation usually takes one to three weeks. Consular processing of an employment visa is typically a few working days to a few weeks, longer if Ministry of Home Affairs clearance is needed. Allow around four to eight weeks from signed offer to arrival and FRRO registration. We give you a tailored timeline at the first consultation.

India has no general permanent residence route like the UK’s. Employment visas are renewed through the FRRO, usually up to five years. People of Indian origin can hold an OCI card, which works as a lifelong visa, and OCI holders can apply for citizenship after five years as an OCI and 12 months’ residence. Others can apply for naturalisation after long residence (generally 12 years). India does not allow dual citizenship, so foreign citizenship must be given up.
